It's Tuesday and I may be rude...

I really, really
don't like these people.

Yep, it's TUESDAY,
time for some topics that have bothered me this past week.
I call them
Pet Peeves.
definition: something that annoys or bothers
you very much (and usually has an easy remedy).

Yesterday these people called four times.
Here's how it went.

#1:
I am busy cutting up chicken. I quickly wash my hands and pick up the phone.
Hello.

a recorded voice says: Hello this is credit card services, this is a very important call. We want to assure you there is no problem...

Click. I hang up.
note: I listened to it all one time and quickly realized it was a sales call.  Now my trigger finger is working faster due to more practice lately. I am pretty quick at hanging up on this one.

#2:

I'm busy scrubbing the shower and I hear it ring, so I run to get the phone. I am now out of breath.
Hello.

Is Joe there?

No. There is no Joe here.

Oh, well, I meant to talk to you anyway.  How are you today? Have you ever...

No, I have not. Thank you, Goodbye.

Click
note: even though he was lying to me, I thought he was polite, so I tried to be polite back.

Hello. This is a very important call regarding your student loans...

click.
note: I don't have any student loans. I get this call at least 5 times a week. I'm pretty quick at hanging up on this one too. Hanging up quickly is now a family sport.

  2. Can't someone or something stop these credit card services calls, they seem to be nationwide. I've never listened to one long enough to find out what their scamming deal is, but they call my home way too much.

The scammers calling claiming they have found I have a computer problem are the worst. Depending on how my day is going and my mood, I will either hang up on them or I will play them along for quite a while while i pretend to need to go upstairs to my computer and turn it on, I wait a good long while to get back to them, at this point they are very patient, and then I tell them that it is taking a while for my screen to come up, after more time pretending that I'm waiting for it, I say that I guess it must have a problem, then I tell them my screen is up. Oh, the excitement in their voice. They can barely contain themselves thinking they are going to get something over on someone. You can hear it in their voice. Then they start trying to get my info. That is when I lower the boom on them, cuss them out, up one side and then down the other for as long as they stay on the phone. My creative cussing of them would make a dog blush. I don't care. Sorry, this behavior is not at all lady-like. They need to stop doing this, or be stopped from doing this. I totally vent on them and then slam the phone down.

Hopefully, the time they wait for me to act like I am going upstairs to look at my computer will save some other person from being duped by them. The cussing out is the scammers bonus from me.

  3. we get about 3 to 4 calls every day. i never answer the phone if i don't know the name or number. we have caller ID. i let it go to VM and they rarely leave a message. it is really aggravating, they call on sundays, and sometimes even at night wake me up. the thing about playing games with this people like Susie said, that can be dangerous. they have your number and with that can find out any and all info about you and do damage if they want to. like poking a bear with a stick. just don't answer the phone is my thing.
