Sunday Ponders...

As some of you may know, I have been on a journey of healing these past few weeks.

It began on January 1st. I got up that morning and read a quote by Joel Osteen.

"When you wake up, you can't just wait to see what kind of day you will have. You have to decide what kind of day you will have."

That day I decided I needed help.   My attitude was defensive, resentful and I constantly had thoughts about people and moments that brought me down or made me mad. I felt consumed. I felt guilty. I didn't like who I saw in the mirror that morning.

I decided that day that I would change who I was.

I printed that quote and framed it, then set it on my bathroom vanity so that every morning and throughout my day, I would read it.  I also signed up for emails from Joel Osteen, Our Daily Bread, Simple Reminders and Holly Gerth.

They say it takes six weeks to change a habit, so I took my new journal and set up a calendar for 6 weeks. It is a graph that I can track my own habits.

I then chose to tell you about it.

I felt by hitting that publishing button that you would hold me accountable.

I am now almost 3 weeks into it and I am doing so much better. I am now sleeping better, and thinking better.

It hasn't been easy. I had to commit to taking the time for myself. Time has always been my biggest excuse.  I will read when I get time, I will call a friend when I get time, I will ride my stationary bike when I get time.

I will.... fill in the blank.... when I get time.

No more excuses.
I made time.

All quotes were sourced from google search.

  6. I love that quote Dazee!
I've struggled a little with feeling down the last couple of weeks. That quote hits the spot.
I've answered a couple of your comments on my blog.

Thanks for "talking back" at Harvest Lane Cottage. Do you know that your comments come through to my email as a "no reply blogger"? If you'd like to get direct responses to your comments more often, you might like to know how to change that. I wrote about it in this blog post.

If you're like me, you don't have time to go back and check on other blogs to see if you've gotten a response to your comment. I sometimes can take time to track down commenters, but I'm usually short on time.

  8. Taking time for yourself is something we all have to do. I learned that one about 10 yrs ago when I let so much build up that I had a little break down and stayed 7 days on the hospital. When I got home I took my life apart piece by piece. Thought about what I could change and what I could not. What I needed to face and confront and what I needed to let go. I took 5 yrs to work on me. You take all the time you need. 6 weeks, 6 yrs....whatever it takes. Learn to like yourself, learn to let go and learn to enjoy life in whatever fits you. Best of luck.

  9. Hello Pam, thank you for your story and your encouraging words. I am doing better each day and following a routine of being nice to me, my family and my friends. Thehubs has assumed the chores of laundry and vacuuming so that I can spend time with my 87 year old mom. Yesterday we sat on the floor and cut out valentines. It has been along time since I played with scissors and glue. I laughed and smiled the entire time. I also have not went backwards, even though the pulling is still there, I am only moving forward and I have set a 6 week journey, then I will re-access and set the next 6 weeks. I have lost friends over this which makes sit even harder.
