Romance?? Intimacy??

I signed up to read

Romancing
Your
Better Half

by
Rick Johnson

Thehubs and I will be celebrating our anniversary soon. After 17 years together and the daily needs of family, pets, and careers, sometimes romance can get moved down on our list of priorities. Oh we have tried "date nights", mini-vacations, and quiet nights in front of the fireplace but these special nights were too far apart and most of the time, we were just happy to be alone so we could take a nap.

Rick Johnson's New Book goes beyond date nights. It was a quick read, only 200 pages. Published by Revelle, I knew it would be of good quality paper and binding making it a great gift idea for your spouse. I like Rick Johnson's style of writing, similar to having a conversation, that includes easy to follow ideas and tips for each chapter. This book is a study of marriage, intimacy, internal reflection, and yes, sex.  It is a Christian book written for all ages of married couples.

My favorite chapter was
"Our Woundedness".

The woundings from our past, sometimes inflicted generations ago,
cripple our ability to love today, and the only empire we can build is one of
insecurity, distrust, and self-loathing. Unfortunately, that's what we are now
seeing in our families and in so many facets of our society." Warwick Marsh

The truth is, your spouse is not responsible for your pain...
The greatest gift you can give somebody is your own personal development.
I used to say "If you will take care of me, I will take care of you".
Now I say, "I will take care of me for you, if you will take care of you for me".

I loved this book.

Romancing Your Better Half is not just about more date nights or more lingerie moments. It is about building romance into your daily habits.

Get one today at Amazon, Booksamillion, or your favorite bookstore. It is a high quality paperback book with large type and easy to read spacing. Or you can order it for your ereader, kindle, etc.

I enjoy a good mystery!

I wanted to read a good book.

With these cold, dreary days and the madness of the holiday rush over, I just wanted to wrap up in a blanket, sit by the fire and get lost in a "can't put it down" story.  I chose:

Emissary
by
Thomas Locke

Once I started reading this book,
I just couldn't put it down.

Hyam the main character, is a young man who loses his Mother and begins his journey on a quest to fulfill her last wish. Along the way he discovers his past only to find that his past determines his future. Along his journey, Hyam must sacrifice his own wants for the greater needs of the world.
Most people were given a new world for their twenty-first birthday. Coming of age meant celebration and beginning and vast horizons. Hyam was given one choice, which of course was no choice at all. He was invited to walk away from everything he had ever known.”

Emissary is a book that reveals it's characters as it reveals it's story. It is set in a medieval world with no mention of time, location, or goals. These are all revealed as you read each page. It is filled with action, both good and evil, with Hyam discovering amazing powers bestowed upon him.
"Only when the valley went silent did she (Joelle) turn back. And even then she did not want to, but her attention was pulled around the same force that had drawn her here."

Reading this book wasn't easy. At times, I had to turn back a page and re-read a paragraph. But this is the mystery of this book. I expected the characters and the places to be clearly defined prior to the story beginning but they were not. Thomas Locke tells this story a piece at a time, therefor reading this book is also a mystery that you find you are part of as you turn each page.

Reading Emissary,by Thomas Locke,
is a journey for it's reader just as Hyam's life is a journey.

Emissary, the first book in new series Legends of the Realm and soon to be movie, is filled with places that don't exist and characters that are unreal but yet just like us. It is a mystery fantasy tale filled with good verses evil, minimal descriptions of violence, and no profanity.

Emissary by Thomas Locke is available January 6th, 2015 as a very nicely bound paperback or on your kindle/e-reader. It is a beautiful book with a colorful embossed cover. Revelle Books are so well made. I knew this book would be easy to hold, have larger print than most, and would lay open when I set it down. All of which I find important when I choose a book to read or to give for a gift. I want to feel the quality in my hands.

Thomas Locke is an award winning novelist with total worldwide sales of seven million copies, published in twenty languages with four Christy Awards and a 2014 induction into the Christy Hall of Fame. His web address is www.tlocke.com and his twitter username is tlockebooks.

I recommend Emmissary, by Thomas Locke, for anyone wanting to read a good mystery, set in an imaginative place and time. The story is excellent and I can't wait to read the next book in this new series. You can order it at Amazon.com in both paper form or as an e-reader.

Thanks for stopping by
