Christmas Lights are Twinkling!

Thehubs is well known around town for his exterior illumination!
Thehubs decided early on to make this Christmas a red, white and blue holiday in honor of our troops and their families. Just yesterday, a dear friend who lives way out in the country stopped by to tell thehubs that this year's display is even better than last years.

Now we live out in the country, on the edge of a small town of only 300+ citizens, down a private lane surrounded by family centered around a small lake. The reflections we see from the water are worth bundling up in our heavy coats and scarfs, hopping into our golf cart with hot chocolate and taking a tour.

The photo below is the back side of our home being reflected in the lake, no photo editing was necessary.

This photo is the four maple trees that surround our three flag poles that face our local county road behind our home.

Yes, thehubs is amazing!  We are so proud of his exterior illumination skills!  This year he has outdone himself.

Monday's Post-Its...

Today I want to share something that I have been using for FREE for almost 6 years.

Apache Open Office

I had a friend who shared this information with me and I have been using it ever since.

I was using Microsoft Office Products that came already installed on my computer.

Well, my computer got old and had to be replaced. So I ordered a new one from Dell and they asked me if I wanted the Microsoft Office Suite installed. Of course, until I heard how much... just too much for me.

I needed a good word processor/publishing software and a spreadsheet program but the price for the Microsoft Package almost made me fall out of my chair.

Apache Open Office is just like the Microsoft products. It has a word processor, spreadsheet, and publishing program. If you need to share files with someone who has those programs, Open Office will import/export it's files into their format.

AND IT IS FREE!

Just thought I would share this information today
just in case you have not heard of it before!
You can go to http://www.openoffice.org/
and download it for free!

Thanks for stopping by!

As life goes...
It is Monday, and it has been a 2 Tylenol day.  Printer problems which have taken me about three hours to fix on a day that is cold, dark and windy. My bones just don't like days like today. I am dreaming of warm and sunny days and it isn't even January yet.

Monday's Post-It's...

"Every Christmas Season, we hop in the four wheel drive  sled,
destination...   Washington, D.C. to see ICE at Gaylord National!"    Debbie

I read about 40 blogs a day, most of them late at night, sitting in bed eating cookies and drinking milk. I want to start sharing my some of my blogging friends posts with you. So every Monday I will highlight one (or two) of my favorites from the week.

Yesterday, Debbie over
at the blog

shared her trip to see the most beautiful ice sculptures in Washington, D.C.

The theme for this amazing holiday tour is Frosty the Snowman and is carved from more than two million pounds of ice. I am at a loss for words at the creativity and design. We just don't see much of that here in the rural corner of the Ozarks.

Debbie  shares her trips and her talents with the rest of us on her blog. I have been able to travel along with her and enjoy some beautiful places. I have never been to the east coast but thanks to Debbie sharing her world I have been able to see some pretty incredible places.

Her beautiful photographs of these ice sculptures are amazing and a must-see.  I asked her permission to feature her Sunday post and I was happy to receive her blessing. I hope you will hop over and take a look at these awesome sculptures.

Thanks for stopping by!

As life goes...
It is Monday, my day for catching up. Time to put all my notes together and organize.  Most of my phone calls have been made and conversations about work schedules, etc have been had. Time to make my master list. I will use bright green paper to make this list easy to find then I will write everything in pencil, beginning with making columns for gifts, gatherings, menu's, recipes. As I think of things and review recipes I will write my grocery list on the back of the green sheet.  Now it is time to get busy! Happy Monday! xxDazee

My head gets so dizzy...

"Sometimes my head gets so full of thoughts that
my brain gets dizzy!"  me

Holidays...

So much to do, so many places to be, so many people we love, so much food, lots of food, groceries to be bought, and then put somewhere in my already full pantry and refrigerator...

Woo...
I hope I can do it all!

This is when I write. I put it all on paper, make lists, and schedules. Not for others, but for myself. I get out my good old spiral bound steno pad, a couple of post-its and a pencil with a good eraser. I tear about 5 sheets out and just start writing anything that needs to be done, etc. Sometimes I do this over a 2-3 day period as things come together.

Then I take these loose sheets and organize them. There will be several menues, grocery lists, schedules, contact trackers (a list of who knows about what), gifts for whom and what to get, etc.

I turn off the television and listen to Christmas Music (on now is Michael Buble Christmas album on Spotify). And since I have come to know a dear blogger friend named Linda at Linda's Life Journal, I also light a special candle. This was Linda's way of welcoming her favorite month, September.

I take a moment to honor this moment in my life and it can change the rest of my day.

Every moment is precious as we all know, but this little ceremony honoring "this" moment in my life gets me moving. Every moment is a "this" moment, I believe.

It just feels good!

I also made a batch of homemade chocolate fudge...
and ate the whole thing, all by myself and enjoyed it, with ice cold milk. Not all at once, but almost, while totally ignoring the portable scales across the room. And I don't feel a bit guilty about it. Merry Christmas to myself I thought, as I savored each and every delectable, scrumptious, tasty, delicious, yummy bite.

Now my brain is not so dizzy!

As life goes...

I'll just say it in a photo this time...

"Pull my finger"
talking Santa

doesn't everyone have one?

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays!

Feliz Navidad!

Enjoy!
