Fences tell a story

I must thank Debbie over at

She shared a her photos and a link to

Thank you Debbie!

I am also participating in their link party.
I am sharing a photo of a fence I took yesterday.

This fence has kept this old combine safe for
about 40 years that I have been seeing it
as I round that corner of the river on my way into town.

The reason I parked my car a half mile away
and walked to the river was to
get a photo of this floating tree in the woods.

It fell sometime last fall
and has been laying here all winter.

When a tree falls in the woods,
does it make a noise?

It yells "Catch Me" to the other trees.

This tree is so big,
I can stand under the base of the trunk,
stretch my arms up
and not be able to reach it.

Just thought I would share this today.
We are off to pick out tile for our bathroom.
Hopefully the last decision we make for this venture.

update: the floor and tile installers are scheduled to be here late next week. I can't wait to share photos of our makeover.

Thank you for stopping by to visit!

Change in black and white

"Progress is a nice word.
But change is its motivator.
And change has its enemies."
------------------------
"I am motivated.
I am making progress...
but my enemy is my own fear."

Will it all work?
Will the end result be as great as the hard work and calluses on my hands predict? We have been on a journey of improvements at our humble abode. Our new floors will be installed next week. So many choices, so many colors and textures, my mind seems to be spinning from all the places and products we reviewed.
photos to come...

Black and white Wednesday

titled:
Frost on our Front Door

Rain, sleet and snow on Sunday.

Sun, fun and shorts on Monday.

Wind, clouds and jackets on Tuesday.

I love living in the Ozarks.

They say "if you don't like the weather now,

wait an hour and it will change".

My backyard view

I want to share
our backyard playground.

Our corner of Southwest Missouri is full of old mining trails, chat piles, and mining pits filled with water.

Back in the early 1900's, our small town was a big and bustling mining town.  My father grew up here along with his 9 brothers and sisters, many aunts and uncles and cousins who all worked for the mining company.  They dug very deep pits, filled them with machinery and pulled out the lead and zinc.

Then they left town and didn't put the earth back as it was. Leaving us with all of these mining trails, chat (ground up rock) and swimming and fishing holes.  I like to call them my backyard. I grew up here, riding horses, motorcycles, four wheelers, and going swimming anytime we wanted to.

I crawl along in 3rd gear, ducking under trees and limbs.
The trails get washed out each winter, and trees fall, so a day with the chain saw will get these cleaned up.

My first Y in the trail, should I go left or right? I chose left this time as I was anxious to see the water.

Another Y in the trail, again I choose left as I want to head towards the fishing/swimming hole.

There it is!  I am almost there.

The water level is 20 feet below normal.  The water line was up to the tall tree last time I was back here.  This drought we are experiencing is getting worse.

So I turn around and head back up the hill and take a right turn.
Here you see the old mining debris that has been here since the mining company left town. Acres and acres of trails, chat piles, woods and water.

Now it is time to go fast and climb some hills, jump some gully's, and see how fast I can go through the puddles.

This girl is gonna get dirty today!

Thanks for stopping by!

It was a major purge!

The hubs said to me yesterday...

"I need to get back to work,
these honey-do's are killing me".

We have been painting and spring (almost) cleaning around here. It started in the guest bedroom and bathroom.  Then on to the living room, the office, then the master closet and bathroom. The vacuum cleaner is tired, I am tired, and so is the hubs. Even the washing machine is tired.  But... everything is fresh, clean and better organized. It was a major purge, in fact three loads to the donation center and starting on another.

Before photos!

This is our entryway looking into the office
The burgundy paint is all gone...
The silk flower arrangements are all gone...

 The hubs painted everything,
ceilings, walls and trim.

Our master bathroom was three colors:
hunter green, golden yellow and chocolate brown.
All has been painted, caulked, and trimmed.

The smallest room required the most work.
The master closet was a mess, but not anymore!
Purge, purge and purge some more.

I did a couple of craft projects along the way.

Coming soon!
The BIG Reveal!

"Ya' all come back now ya here?"
